We sent Requests for Proposals for Luigi Brizzolares Fletcher/Strickland memorial to six restoration firms. James Fletcher was the U.S. Consul in Genoa from 1883 until his death in 1901. His wife Emma Strikland and their daughter Gertrude predeceased him in Genoa, and he commissioned this memorial n their honor. After he died, he was also buried here, and an American eagle and shield was added to the base of the sculpture.
