Luigia Bianchi memorial

This is the memorial to Luigia Bianchi, sculpted in 1871 by Domenico Gallino. It was covered by 150 years of dirt and pollution. Those deposits on the surface draw out the calcium from the marble, forming a black crust, which if not carefully removed will start to break down the fine details of the carving. We completed restoration of this beautiful sculpture, along with the Bozano memorial sculpted by Giovanni Scanzi, in 2022.
